Diwali Corporate Gift Hampers by Budget: What ₹500 to ₹3,000 Actually Buys

An honest breakdown of Diwali corporate hampers at each price band — what fits inside once packaging and courier are paid for, and where the money is best spent at each level.

Most Diwali gifting conversations start with a per-head number, and most of them go wrong at the same point: the number is treated as the gift budget when it is actually the total budget. Packaging, printing and courier all come out of it. This guide sets out what each band realistically buys once those are paid for, so you can pick a number that produces the gift you have in mind rather than a disappointing version of it.

First, the three costs hiding inside your per-head number

Packaging. A flimsy box makes a good gift look cheap and does not survive transit. A rigid printed box is the single biggest packaging decision, and at small hamper sizes it can be a meaningful share of the per-unit cost. Plain kraft boxes with a printed card cost considerably less and often look better than badly printed custom boxes.

Printing and inserts. A note card is inexpensive. Full custom box printing is not, and it carries a minimum quantity of its own — usually higher than people expect. Below a few hundred units, printed sleeves or stickers on a plain box are typically better value than fully printed boxes.

Courier. The variable that ruins budgets. Shipping consolidated cartons to a handful of office addresses is cheap per unit. Shipping individually to hundreds of home addresses is not, and heavier items such as marble multiply it. On a small per-head budget with home delivery, expect courier to take a real bite.

A useful planning split at smaller budgets is roughly two-thirds to the gift, one-sixth to packaging, one-sixth to delivery — adjusting sharply if you are shipping to homes.

Under ₹500 per head

This band works when you choose one good object and present it simply.

Realistic contents: a pair of hand-cast brass diyas, a small brass idol, a decorative tealight holder set, or an incense set with a holder. Packed in a plain rigid box with a printed card and a ribbon.

What to avoid: multi-item hampers. At this level, adding items means each one gets cheaper, and recipients read the whole box as filler. One diya set that someone actually lights every year beats a tray of four forgettable items.

Where the money is best spent: the object. Keep the packaging plain and good rather than elaborate and thin.

₹500 to ₹1,000 per head

The most common corporate band in India, and the one where hampers start to feel like hampers.

Realistic contents: a brass diya pair with a small puja thali; a brass Ganesh or Lakshmi idol with tealights; a marble or brass piece paired with something edible. Packaging can now be branded properly — a rigid box with a printed sleeve, tissue, and a card.

What to watch: this is where dry fruits and sweets start appearing to bulk out the box. They do add perceived value, but they also add weight, shorten the usable window and complicate courier. If you include edibles, confirm shelf life and check that packing keeps them separate from brass or marble.

Where the money is best spent: one anchor item that carries the box, plus proper presentation. Two considered things, not five small ones.

₹1,000 to ₹2,000 per head

Here you can build a hamper that stands on its own without padding.

Realistic contents: a brass Lakshmi-Ganesh pair, several diyas, a puja thali or samagri set, and a quality edible — in a rigid printed box with a fitted insert so nothing moves in transit. Or a single substantial piece: a mid-size marble idol or a handcrafted decorative item, boxed properly.

This is also the band where the choice between one impressive thing and several good things genuinely matters. For senior staff and clients, the single substantial piece usually reads better. For a broad employee base, the fuller hamper tends to be received more warmly.

Where the money is best spent: fit and finish. A fitted insert, decent tissue and a hand-signed card change how the whole thing lands.

₹2,000 to ₹3,000 and above

Client, leadership and long-service gifting.

Realistic contents: a substantial hand-carved marble or brass idol, a premium brass puja set, or a curated hamper built around a single significant piece. At this level the gift is usually chosen per recipient group rather than uniformly, and presentation is expected to be excellent.

Practical note: heavier and more fragile pieces need real crating, not a gift box in a courier bag. Budget for it, and ask the supplier exactly how the item is packed for transit.

Where the money is best spent: the piece itself, and the crating that gets it there intact.

Two decisions that change the maths more than the budget does

Offices or homes. Consolidated delivery to offices is dramatically cheaper per unit and simpler to track. Home delivery is more personal but adds cost, address collection and delivery risk. Deciding this first tells you how much of the budget is actually available for the gift.

Uniform or tiered. Many organisations run two or three tiers — one for the broad employee base, one for senior staff, one for clients. This is usually a better use of a fixed total than averaging everyone to the same middling box, and suppliers handle it routinely.

Getting a real quote

Per-head guidance only goes so far, because the real number depends on volume, how many addresses, how much custom packaging, and how fragile the contents are. When you ask for a quote, give the supplier your headcount, your target per-head budget, whether delivery is to offices or homes, and your date. Anyone quoting seriously will come back with options at and around your number rather than a single fixed hamper.

Gharana builds Diwali and festival hampers around handcrafted brass, marble idols and puja essentials, with branded packaging, GST invoicing and pan-India dispatch from around 25 hampers upward. Our corporate gifting page covers hamper tiers and how ordering works.

For the wider decision — what employees actually keep, personalisation, and the ordering timeline — see our corporate Diwali gifting guide. If you are ordering late, the gifting timeline sets out what is still possible at each stage.
